Success Mindset: The Optimist’s Creed

Success Mindset: The Optimist's Creed

Mindset is a huge factor in Success in all areas of life.

It is important to surround yourself with people, books and resources that support you in creating and maintaining the mindset that will help you achieve the success that you want for yourself – whether that be in business, relationships, lifestyle or your family life.

The other day my husband was reading Daily Teachings by Rhonda Byrne when he came across The Optimist’s Creed by Christian Larson which was written nearly a hundred years ago.

It falls into the category of being a useful resource for supporting, creating and maintaining a Success Mindset. Here it is:

The Optimist’s Creed

I promise myself:

To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person I meet.

To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times & give a smile to every living creature I meet.

To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and & too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud word, but in great deeds.

To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

-- Christian D. Larson

What do you think of it?

  • I love that last line in particular: "To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me."

That feels really inspiring. Thanks for sharing the creed, Ali. I hadn't come across it and am going to bookmark it. Really useful!
  • Christine, I agree that is a great line. In fact, each line has a little gem in it. It's almost like a little manifesto for all areas of life.
  • This is really nice Ali.

I've been looking into create incantations at the moment as an alternative to affirmations. The ones I have seen are very similar to this creed.
  • Thanks Ben. I find this sort of thing really helps maintain the mindset, especially if I am having an off day or not feeling so good.
