One of the questions I get asked a lot is:
“What is the key to having BOTH a fulfilling life AND a thriving business?”
There are many things that contribute to that.
So I think it is important to start at the very beginning.
A significant contributing factor is that people haven’t got total clarity on what “ideal” is to them.
They know what they don’t want, but what they want isn’t detailed and specific enough to be able to create action plans that will create the results they really want.
Having a fulfilling life AND a thriving business won’t just magically happen. You have to design it and then look for ways to make it happen.
Many people live their whole life by accident or by someone else’s definition of success. They conform to the status quo even though it leaves them feeling unfulfilled.
You have to be willing to challenge your own status quo.
If you don’t design your life, you are leaving it to chance. And that is a hell of a gamble to take with your one and only life.
So if you want to change things in your life and business, you need to start by getting clarity on exactly what a fulfilling life and a thriving business looks like for you.
So, grab a blank piece of paper and a pen and start writing down what “ideal” looks like for you. Be very specific.
Important: this exercise isn’t about what you THINK is possible. It is about thinking, “If I had no limitations, what would ideal look like to me?”.
Don’t underestimate the power of this blank piece of paper exercise. It is the start point to creating a fulfilling life and a thriving business (often the simplest of tools are the most effective!!!).
It is an exercise I use frequently in my own business and a tool my husband and I have used to design our lives – as individuals and as a family.
I did this exercise after my husband had a serious car crash two years ago. It led us to decide to emmigrate to Canada and change a whole load of other things in our lives and my business.
For more on how I used this exercise at that time, read Lessons From A Wake Up Call.
So if you would like something, big or small, to be different in your life and business, I encourage you to have a go at this blank piece of paper exercise.
It is a great way to get more clarity and to get yourself started on the path to a more fulfilling life.
Have fun playing with this.
