Knowing how to clear your path of the things that are getting in your way is essential to achieve the life and results that you really want.

Having enough time and energy to work on those things is important too.

So, I am going to share with how to get started with clearing your path to create more time and have the life you really want. I’m also going to share with you a couple of tips and practical exercises you can have a go at implementing straight away.

To get started, ask yourself these three questions:

1. How would your life be different if you had more than enough time, energy and a clear path to create the life and results you really want?

2. How would your life be different if you felt less busy and less overwhelmed with everything you have to juggle in your life?

3. What possibilities and opportunities would that open up for you?

It would be pretty damn awesome wouldn’t it?

But the reality is that most people live in a state of permanent busyness which leads to feeling overwhelmed and stuck. It drains your time, energy and creates an obstacle that blocks your path forward to creating the life and results you really want.

It sucks the life out of you and has a terrible impact on your quality of life and fulfillment.

But the great news is that it doesn’t have to be that way. It is possible to change it. There are very simple things you can do to clear your path and start creating a new reality quickly.

How to get started with clearing your path to create more time and have the life you really want

Clear the decks for successIn the same way a builder would never dream of starting to build a house before he has cleared the building site of all the crap, rubbish and debris, you need to clear your path for building the life and results you really want too.

It starts with committing to, and creating, a “Clear the decks for success” strategy.

And what I mean by that is to commit to finding ways to eliminate the things that are draining your time and energy. It means committing to finding a way to reduce your permanent state of busyness and overwhelm. It means putting things in place to stop those things raising their ugly heads again once you have dealt with them.

There are a number of strategies that will help you do this (and I will be sharing 4 really powerful ones in the next week’s video) but today I just wanted to share two tips with you to help you get started.

Tip 1 – the first step in creating change is awareness.

It helps to spend some time increasing your awareness of the real impact of your current situation on all areas of your life. Here is a useful exercise you can do that will help you do that.

As you complete this exercise, think of all areas of your life e.g. work, health, wellbeing, relationships, quality of life, family, fulfillment etc.

Write down your answers to the following questions:

1. What is it costing you to do nothing about your current situation?

2. What are you risking by not finding a way to clear your path of what is holding you back?

3. What are the consequences of staying over-busy, overwhelmed, stressed, drained and not having enough time and energy?

4. How would your life be different if you had more than enough time, energy and a clear path to create the life and results you really want?

Really dig deep as you think about, and answer, those questions.

The reason this exercise is worth doing is because it will give you a lot of clarity of what exactly is the cost of doing nothing versus the significant benefits of tackling the situation.

That information will help with motivating yourself to get into action and to clear your decks for success. It will clearly show you that doing nothing about it is a hell of a gamble to take with your life.

Tip 2 – identify and take small steps to get some quick wins

There is nothing like taking action and getting some quick wins, no matter how small, to build momentum and motivation for taking more action and to create a cycle that leads to moving you forward and better results.

Take a few minutes and challenge yourself to identify a small step you can take to deal with something that is draining your time, energy or getting in the way, or holding you back in some way, of having the life and results you really want.

Keep it really small. Remember you are looking for quick wins here. When you have done it celebrate that you are on your way to clearing your decks for success. Be aware of how damn good it feels to have nailed that thing and the boost it gives you. Then pick another small thing and so on, until before you know it you are clearing your path more and more.

Have a go at these two tips and practical exercises things and see how you get on with them, what comes up for you and what difference it makes.

You have no idea how timely this is for me. I am absolutely always in a state of busyness and need to take the time to just be quiet, sit and think it out. I’m definitely going to do these two exercises.

  • I am delighted you found my tips useful. Change can only happen where they is time, space and energy for thinking and doing something different so it is great that you realise that you need to take the time to just be and think. Have fun with it. It is a great way to get started with clearing your path and working out how to reduce your busyness.

So important to lasting, meaningful change So many times we are so anxious to make changes that we jump in before creating an environment for success. Then we get discouraged and chuck the whole thing. Great advice, Ali.
