Creating change to achieve business goals and results is an essential part of the home business success process. Yet a lot of home business owners seem to struggle with making change that delivers consistent business results.
Change Management Challenges
There are two key factors that make effective change management a challenge for home business owners. Firstly, there is the habit of thinking a lot about the change they want without actually taking the action that will deliver that change. Reminds me of the following quote:
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results – Albert Einstein
Secondly, they don’t ask themselves vital questions before embarking on change management strategies
Asking Questions: A vital element to create successful change
The starting point to creating successful and consistent change is to ask yourself important questions BEFORE you start on creating change in your business. Yet this is part of effective change management that is often overlooked. There are many questions that should be part of this process but here are two vital ones:
1. What change will ensure I deliver the results I want? – don’t just go making change for making changes sake. Any changes you make should be part of a well thought out strategy.
and possibly the most important question of all:
2. Who do I have to BE to deliver change that delivers consistent and sustainable results? – the results you are getting are direct result of who you are being in the business. To create different results, you are going to have to change your mindset, thought process and behaviour.
Remember:
The same thinking that got you into the situation is not going to get you out of the situation. You need to think differently to create different results to what you are getting now.
In the post Why Change is Essential for Home Business Survival we look in more detail at creating effective change management strategies and practical actions you can take to create change that delivers specific, tangible, measureable and consistent results.
